The Iowa Children’s Museum believes in the power of play. Their mission is to inspire all children to imagine, create, discover, and explore through the power of play.
Play is essential to childhood development. It is the basis of academic success and social expression, and allows children to discover the world around them. The Iowa Children’s Museum provides play experiences that correspond with five key initiatives: STEM, financial literacy, arts and culture, healthy kids, and schoolreadiness. The museum strives to stimulate childhood development and learning through play with interactive exhibits and programs.
Community and business partnerships are key to the organization’s success, and help nurture a lifelong love of learning in local children. Sponsorships and donations allow the museum to continue to provide exemplary interactive exhibits and educational programs. The museum would not be possible without community support.
The Iowa Children’s Museum is the only museum of it’s kind in the Creative Corridor. More than 170,000 patrons visit the museum annually, which primarily serves children ages 1 to 12, school and children's groups, and families. Children are able to safely explore familiar environments, like a child-sized grocery store, a hospital, a pizzeria and use their creativity in the Art Studio.
The Iowa Children’s Museum strives to be an essential resource in Iowa. They are well on their way to reaching their goal as they encourage children to discover and play every day.
