Table to Table is Iowa’s original food rescue organization. Their goal is twofold: to reduce both hunger and food waste throughout the Corridor. Linder Tire Services is a proud sponsor of the organization. Table to Table collects edible food that would normally go to waste from local organizations, like grocery stores, and redistributes it to area food agencies.
The organization delivers around 20 tons of food per week. They’ve redistributed and delivered over 12 million pounds since making their first run in 1996. Over 30 local agencies that aid the hungry, homeless, and at-risk populations depend on Table to Table service, including the North Liberty Community Pantry and the Johnson County Crisis Center.
Table to Table works to alleviate food waste too. 40 percent of our food supply ends up in landfills, making food the largest contributor to U.S. landfills. Table to Table’s mission just makes sense: why bury good food when so many people are in need of it?
There is no charge for the organization’s services. Volunteers of all ages provide much of the daily work from food pickup and distribution to data entry. Donations are vital to Table to Table’s success as well. Every dollar received yields nearly 30 dollars of impact, making Linder Tire Service’s sponsorship so important to the organization.
Table to Table celebrated their 20th anniversary of food rescue and distribution last April. With the support of volunteers and generous organizations like Linder Tire Service, they will continue to eliminate community food waste and hunger for years to come.
