Improving Communities

Since 1950, the Junior League of Tyler, Inc., first known as the Tyler Service League, has been involved philanthropically in Tyler and surrounding communities. Throughout the year, money is raised, food is donated and volunteers give their time to the many charitable agencies that call Tyler and its surrounding areas home. The people of Tyler and East Texas depend on the compassion and dedication of these agencies and, many of these agencies depend on the Junior League of Tyler, Inc. To date, The Junior League of Tyler, Inc. has given back more than $7.5 million, and hundreds of thousands of volunteer hours, to better the community. In 2015 alone, the League contributed over 20,000 volunteer hours and over $218,000 to worthy community projects and endeavors. This work is done by over 300 volunteers working as a non-profit organization with almost 700 members who currently serve 17 agencies benefiting the women and children of East Texas.

The monies donated to these projects and endeavors is also raised thanks to the hard work of the League members. The League fundraising activities include a biennial Rummage Sale “Spring Sweep”, three cookbooks: And Roses for the Table, Cooking Through Rose-Colored Glasses, Ring Around the Rosie, a children’s book Goodnight Rose City, and the annual Mistletoe & Magic holiday shopping market.

The Junior League of Tyler, Inc. is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Today, The Junior League of Tyler, Inc., with its 215 active and provisional members and 475 sustaining members, continues to be an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.
