The Historical and Cultural Society of Clay County is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to promoting local history in Clay County, where we direct our museum, archives, and programming. Our mission is to collect, preserve, interpret, and share the history and culture of Clay County, Minnesota. In short, we tell local stories.
We are located in the City of Moorhead’s Hjemkomst Center. We direct the Clay County museum and archives at the Hjemkomst Center and provide tours of Moorhead's Hjemkomst Viking Ship and Moorhead Stave Church. We also manage historic sites throughout Clay County, including the Comstock House and the Bergquist Cabin. Pangea: Cultivate Our Cultures is one of our annual events that both tourists and locals love!
