GalaxyOne Marketing Gives Back with Golf

The staff at GalaxyOne Marketing, a premier satellite television provider for the Quad Cities, like to get out on the golf course. But for them, it’s not just fun and games—it’s a way to give back to the community too.

Over the years, GalaxyOne has formed an important partnership with the local chapter of Big Brothers Big Sisters, the nation’s largest donor- and volunteer-supported youth mentoring network. Together, the two organizations are able to help Quad Cities children who are facing adversity to become self-reliant, contributing adult citizens.

GalaxyOne’s favorite way to do that is by participating in two golf-related events put on by Big Brothers Big Sisters. One is the annual Putt-A-Round, a four-day affair in January featuring custom mini-golf holes created by local businesses. Each year, GalaxyOne sponsors one of those holes, providing employees to staff it as well as sponsor dollars to support the event in general.

The other event GalaxyOne sponsors is the Big Brothers Big Sisters Annual Golf Outing. For three years and counting, GalaxyOne has been the presenting sponsor of this tournament, helping to raise thousands of dollars for the youth mentoring program. In fact, last year GalaxyOne co-owner Marcia Voss won the event’s hole-in-one contest, and she selflessly decided to give a significant portion of her $10,000 winnings back to Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Voss clearly has a heart for the organization, as she serves on its board of directors. Chris Carroll, the sales vice president of GalxyOne, has a heart for it too—he serves on Big Brothers Big Sisters’event committees.

GalaxyOne really does go above and beyond to support its favorite nonprofit. Big Brothers Big Sisters sure seems to think so: “GalaxyOne Marketing is one of those locally owned companies that is so positive and always has fun when they are supporting our organization. Thank you, GalaxyOne!”
