Jordan’s Joy

First Central State Bank employees, Kerri Rehn and Laura Leiting combined their Pay it Ohnward funds and presented a check to the Jordan’s Joy Foundation.  Jordan’s Joy is a foundation established by the Vershaw family to honor their friend, Jordan Schmidt.  Jordan was a true hero that passed away at the age of 15 from a rare and aggressive form of cancer.  He was an inspiration to all that knew him. 

Founded in 2013, Jordan’s Joy continues to bring hope and inspiration to teenagers battling life threatening and rare diseases.  The goal is to bring joy and comfort to them and their families during the most challenging time in their lives.

What is Pay it Ohnward?

Ohnward Bancshares Inc., the holding company for 22 financial offices doing business as First Central State Bank, Maquoketa State Bank, Gateway State Bank, and Ohnward Bank and Trust introduced an employee driven “pay it forward” type promotion aptly named “Pay it Ohnward.” Each Ohnward Bancshares full time employee was given funds to be used in a way that provides support to myriad groups and individuals throughout our greater Eastern Iowa service area. This new program has the potential to impact many individuals, families, and organizations within the communities who support our banking organizations. It also means we live our vision statement of, “Every day we will make a positive difference in the financial lives of everyone we touch.”
