RSM was founded in Iowa when Ira B. McGladrey bought the Cedar Rapids and Davenport offices of Billings, Prouty and Tompkins in 1926. Today, the Iowa Association of Business and Industry ranks us as the largest accounting firm in Iowa, with approximately 900 employees spanning across the state.

The Cedar Rapids, Iowa City and Waterloo offices were honored in the Corridor Business Journal’s Hall of Fame in the categories of Best Accounting Firm, Best Cyber Security Company and Best Business Consulting Firm. The offices were also named runner-up for Best Wealth Management Company and Best IT Support Company.

The Des Moines office was named the Des Moines Business Records' Best Accounting firm, Best Computer Consulting Firm, Best Company for Young Professionals and Best Wealth Management Company. This office was also named runner-up for Best Company for Women to Work and Best Company to Work for.

Commitment to the community

Beyond serving our clients' needs, our professionals devote their time, money and efforts to several local charities and activities. The 2021 Davenport Volunteer Day focused on Habitat for Humanity. Over one hundred employees joined together to help build the outer walls of new homes for low-income and at-risk families. 2021 was also filled with giving and stewardship. The RSM US Foundation donated over $40,000 to the Quad Cities River Bend Foodbank.

Along with giving back to the community local Iowa offices also support Team RSM player Zach Johnson's annual Zach Johnson Foundation Classic, which raised more than one million dollars for Zach's "Kids on Course" foundation.
