When the Nguyen family opened Salon R5, a manicure and pedicure salon in Davenport, they were looking forward to the new decade. However, on March 21st the Nguyen family made the tough decision to temporarily close the salon as a result of COVID-19.
Although they were grieved to close, the Nguyen family wanted to give back to the community that was so generous during their first year of business. They provided “At Home Manicure & Pedicure Kits,” set up an online store, and even made hand sanitizer.
But the best thing the Salon R5 family did was to brush up their sewing skills to sew fabric face masks!
“We are putting our crafty side to work,” Salon R5 informed their customers. “The masks will be donated to local nurses, doctors, and any of those on the front line of fighting COVID-19 in our community.”
Even the customers got involved. Money was donated to make more masks, and customers even purchased masks for themselves! The profits of each mask sold will be used to create more free masks.
Ever since the fateful day of March 21st, over 300 fabric face masks have been given to people who need them all around the Quad Cities and sharing the love will continue for many more years for Salon R5.
