From Homes to Helping

Coldwell Banker Real Estate Professionals know how to acclimate people to the stresses of buying or selling most people’s most prized asset, their home.  Where they take things to the next level is in how they rally around the needs of our community.  “Each endeavor creates its own sort of culture…the agents are just so ready to dive in to projects where they can have an immediate impact.  Their competitive, good natured spirit always rises to the forefront when we plan a giving event.” Says Stefanie Sersland, General Manager.  “They just get things done!”

The list of areas in which this agency gives back is lengthy.  Some of the benefactors include likely candidates—Big Brothers Big Sisters, Crisis Center, US Troops serving overseas, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Fight with Flash Foundation, Table to Table, Young Life, Homes for Dogs, Iowa City Hospice, and the local schools—but, the Coldwell Banker crew brings their enthusiasm and makes sure to go above and beyond!

The annual holiday themed food and warm clothing drive is a highlight. "The Crisis Center Food Bank distributes about 1.6 million pounds of food each year. Without community support, we would never be able to meet our clients' needs. When businesses like Coldwell Banker host food drives for us, it magnifies our reach and helps us better serve our clients. This community is so generous, and we are so fortunate that businesses like Coldwell Banker understand the need and come together to help us better serve our friends and neighbors in need. As they say, many hands make light work." Says Crisis Center Communications & Development Director, Sara Sedlacek.

In the last two years, Coldwell Banker has accounted for over 1000 pounds of food for the crisis center and countless hats, gloves, mittens and scarves for the area schools to provide for underprivileged youth to be able to cope with Iowa’s harsh winters.
